Job Description

We seek a skilled and experienced Technical Architect – Servers & Storage to join our team to set up a greenfield mine in the Republic of Guinea. In this role, you will work independently with the Rio Tinto Project Manager and vendors to ensure that the server and storage infrastructure is architecturally compliant with requirements and standards.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and implementing server and storage infrastructure for the greenfield mine, focusing on Dell VxRail and IDPA platforms.
• Applying deep design, architectural, and assurance skills to develop a robust and efficient server and storage architecture.
• Collaborating with vendors to drive proper design implementation and ensure adherence to architectural guidelines and standards.
• Commissioning data centres and overseeing the setup of server and storage systems.
• Providing expert guidance and technical oversight throughout the implementation process.
• Occasionally visiting Guinea to oversee project progress and liaise with stakeholders, although the role will not involve hands-on work.
• Having a solid understanding of server and storage architectures to guide the successful implementation of infrastructure.
• Utilising knowledge of the mining industry and greenfield mine setup (nice-to-have) to align server and storage requirements with specific mining needs.
• Fluent in English, with French language skills being beneficial for effective communication.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Technical Engineer with a specialization in server and storage architecture.
• Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Dell VxRail and IDPA platforms.
• Strong expertise in driving vendors to implement proper design and ensuring compliance with architectural standards.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with project managers and vendors.
• Familiarity with data centre commissioning and server and storage system setup.
• Understanding of mining industry requirements and experience with greenfield mine setups (nice-to-have).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English. French language skills are beneficial.
