Description

The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, housing, community initiatives and regional services reform.

The Opportunity

Residential Group Homes provide 24 hour care for children in the care of the Department. There are 5 Residential Care Homes in the Kimberley. In the homes there are up to four young people residing in the households at any time. These children can range in ages from 10 to 17 years.

The Senior Manager Residential Care (and Manager Residential Care) ensures the effective day-to-day management and operations of the homes.

This Includes

  • Liaising with the local district offices to ensure the children have an appropriate and current care plan.
  • Ensuring children receive appropriate treatment and support services that address their individual needs.
  • Contributing to decisions regarding the care plans for the children.
  • Facilitating regular and appropriate contact between the children and their case workers.
  • Providing direct supervision and support to Residential Care Workers, Senior Residential Care Workers and other support staff.
  • Managing the residential care facility to ensure the home is kept in good order.

Qualification Requirements

Qualifications that can be considered for this position are;

  • Bachelor of Social Work
  • Bachelor of Psychology or
  • relevant Human Services area.

NOTE: If you have a relevant Human Services qualification you will need to supply unit descriptions/summaries for assessment against the Qualifications Framework.

All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency. Each qualification must be assessed individually, and the assessment must confirm the equivalent Australian qualification level (i.e. equivalent to a Bachelors or Masters degree). This assessment can be conducted by Overseas Qualification Unit or AASW, and the outcome evidence provided at the time of applying.
