TWO (2) YEAR FIXED-TERM CONTRACT
MASIPHUMELELE;FISH HOEK

The main purpose of this position will be to collect data from participants through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions which could be held in person or virtually, and to accurately and speedily translate and transcribe the interviews.
Minimum Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in the Social Sciences or related field of study
• At least 2 years of research experience.
• Demonstrative knowledge of Interviewing and group facilitation skills
• Previous work experience in HIV, sexual health and, or with adolescents
• Willingness to conduct interviews or focus group discussions at various locations around Masiphumelele
• Fluency in English and IsiXhosa (proven proficiency in IsiXhosa is required as bare minimum)
• Possessing an excellent grasp of grammar and ability to use punctuation correctly.
• Excellent typing skills (transcription, and translation experience); proficiency in word processing.
• Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
• Inquisitive and non-judgmental attitude
• Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
• Strong organizational, oral and writing skills
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times
• Willingness to work later hours and on Saturdays if required
• Ability to multitask, work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions

(N.B. Short listed candidates will be required to undergo practical assessments for language proficiency and typing skills).
Advantageous

• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subject Protection (HSP) Certificate
• Experience in data capturing and data quality control
• Resides in Masiphumelele

Responsibilities

• Oversee recruitment of interview participants
• Conduct high quality in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions with various participants on sensitive topics, using key skills to extract information required
• Complete timeous post-interview summary or debrief reports
• Accurately translate and transcribe interviews and focus group discussions within specified timelines
• Ensure non-biased, consistent, complete and accurate data collection
• Respond to data queries related to the transcripts or participants files
• Literature review, coding, data analysis and scientific writing
• Engage in phone/virtual meetings with off-site partners as required
