Job Description

Jem is looking for a dynamic, talented, and experienced Marketing Manager who is ready to take their career to the next level.

About the role:

  • You will be responsible for developing and executing our marketing strategy, managing budgets, and overseeing our day-to-day marketing operations.
  • This role reports directly to our CEO, Simon Ellis, and will involve close collaboration with various department heads including sales, account management, and product.
  • You will also have a significant role in managing all marketing-related third parties, including our agency partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy, Research, and Insights: Continuously refine strategies for positioning, communication, content, and community engagement. Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent awareness, acquisition, and retention strategies. Conduct ongoing market and customer research to provide actionable insights.
  • Growth: Manage top-funnel strategies like display ads, SEM, SEO, and PR. Work with sales and account management teams to develop sales strategies and collateral, leveraging customer insights and segmentation guidance. Create campaigns to engage target audiences and generate qualified leads. Identify and explore new sales channels.
  • Product Marketing: Collaborate with product managers and designers to create product marketing materials, such as training videos, onboarding decks, and product update newsletters.
  • Content, Creative, and Production: Partner with a designer to produce essential company collateral, including web content, social media assets, PR materials, and presentations. Establish mechanisms to collect client testimonials, reviews, and case studies.
  • Budget and Reporting: Develop annual budgets in collaboration with the CEO, oversee budget management and track expenses. Measure and report on the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, providing detailed analysis and insights.
  • PR & Agency Management: Foster relationships with key partners, such as media outlets and industry associations. Manage third-party agencies encompassing strategic, creative, media, and PR functions. Actively pitch stories and secure opportunities for C-suite executives to feature and speak in relevant forums.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, focusing on digital marketing and brand development. The ideal candidate has built or been a part of the marketing department for an early-stage startup.
  • Experience briefing and managing creative teams with strong project management and team collaboration skills. This includes experience reviewing creative work.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in marketing automation technology and digital marketing tools.
  • Experience with both traditional and digital marketing, including social media and content marketing. You do not need to be an expert in each of these areas, but you need to have a functional understanding and ability to manage these experts.
