Job Description

Our client in the IT sector based in Rivonia, JHB is currently looking to employ Junior IT Specialist / Junior IT Technician.

They are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Junior IT Specialist to join their software development company. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting their internal IT infrastructure and assisting with various IT-related tasks. In this role, your duties will include ensuring optimal use of our hardware and software technologies, enhancing system performance, and securing data. You will also be required to advise on IT equipment upgrades. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft 365Microsoft Exchange, and an understanding of DevOps principles. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a dynamic and innovative environment.


  • Relevant Bachelors/Master’s degree in Computer Science or IT related field or equivalent.
  • Valid code B driver’s license, own transport/public transport.
  • Passed credit and criminal checks.
  • South African Citizen or valid South African work permit.
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in an IT support role.
  • Solid understanding of AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, and VPC (Virtual Private Cloud).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 services, particularly Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server administration.
  • Basic understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS (Domain Name System), DHCP, and VPN.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting hardware and software issues on desktops and laptops.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a proactive and customer-orientated approach.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), would be beneficial.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals) would be a plus.

Responsibilities And Expectations But Not Limited To

  • Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist in the setup, maintenance, and administration of computer systems and networks.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of IT infrastructure, including servers, workstations, printers, and other peripheral devices.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and data backup solutions.
  • Manage user accounts and access permissions in line with company policies.
  • Assist in the configuration and management of AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, and VPC.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Microsoft 365 services, including AD (Active Directory), Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to ensure proper integration and deployment of applications.
  • Assist with DevOps tasks, such as continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), configuration management, and infrastructure automation.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to provide recommendations for improvement.
